Material Testing
Chemical composition is the basic property of metal castings, which will directly affect the mechanical properties of the products. Therefore, in the process of investment casting, material testing is an important step to obtain qualified products.
Why metal casting requires material testing？
At Precisionvast Foundry, the chemical composition of the investment casting material is accurately tested by a spectrometer, which accurately detects the composition of each element in the metal. The test results are compared to material standards, and if the values are within the chemical composition range, the finished investment casting material passes. We call this process “chemical analysis”.
Precisionvast is one of the leading investment casting foundries, how does our foundry perform material testing? First of all, before each batch of ingot metal is put into stock, the material factory will provide us with a material certificate of conformity. To ensure its authenticity, we will first cut a small piece for spectrochemical analysis, and the result of the test will prove whether the material is qualified or not. Secondly, before pouring, we also need to carry out material inspection on the molten metal. If there is any error, the molten metal cannot be poured. Thirdly, after the sample is completed, its chemical composition will also be tested.

At Precisionvast, the spectrometer is connected to a computer. Reports are stored on the network, so the information is always available. We store the spectral blocks for three years, and they can be inspected at any time during the three years. Proper archiving of this information ensures product traceability. In addition, we can perform other tests on investment castings, such as dimensional tests, hardness tests, magnetic particle tests, and other tests. All of these inspections result in high quality products for our customers.
